In order to promote the protection and utilization of the valuable ancient literature resources of Nanjing University, improve the service level of digital resources of ancient books of Nanjing University, and actively respond to President Xi’s call for China’s precious historical documents, “Let the words written in ancient books liveâ€, Nanjing University Books The museum project initiated the digital project of precious ancient resources of Nanjing University.

1, system flow
The primary task of the precious resources digital project of Nanjing University is to protect and rationally use the precious ancient books. The progress of the project follows the principles of construction and service, and carefully selects the items to avoid redundant construction.
In order to ensure the seamless connection of the system engineering in the implementation process, the project is successfully implemented in one time, avoiding the possibility of repeated construction or unnecessary damage to the precious ancient books, and the digital resource collection equipment and professional required for the implementation process. The resource processing software and professional ancient resources resource publishing platform must be provided by the same professional manufacturer. The final implementation framework of the project is as follows:
2, high-precision digital resource collection
The accuracy of digital resource collection is the basis for the application and promotion of digital resources in the later stage. The professionalism of the implementation process protects the ancient books and protects the literature from being damaged by secondary operations. Therefore, the high-precision scanning equipment and professional service team of ancient books Is the prerequisite for the successful implementation of this project;

(2) Image scanning processing rules: The precious documents in the collection need to be scanned by a non-contact professional high-definition scanner, and the scanning process is not a book (general principle). Due to the large number of valuable documents in the collection, this precious digital project requires the use of professional high-definition scanners of A0 format, and requires that the scanned images be clear and opaque.
(3) The standard color card (for detecting scanning accuracy and picture color) and the ruler should be equipped for scanning.
(4) Image quality (optical resolution and line number) To meet the needs of simulation and reconstruction of precious literature in the later period, the full format must reach an optical resolution of 600 dpi × 600 dpi, 9 lines / pair; requires the use of international standard ISO division rate detection Card detection (see image to the right)
Archive format: lossless compression TIFF (LZW) format, suffix tif;
Release format (national standard): 400dpi*400dpi resolution, J2K compression with compression factor of CF=50, and finally jp2 and pdf format.

Third, the current progress
The digitization process of ancient books is accompanied by the restoration and sorting of ancient books. Because of the huge number of ancient books in Nanjing University and the variety of forms, the project has been launched since the end of 2015, and the data collection is slow. Currently, the data upload platform has been released. Conditions, the platform system has been installed and configured in place, has not been officially opened for use;
Fourth, advantages and disadvantages
The whole system of the project uses foreign equipment and software platforms, and is a professional digital system for internationally renowned ancient books; in terms of front-end data acquisition and image processing that has been run, the data scanner system has high efficiency, high picture quality and stable operation, hardware and software. Good adaptability and strong security. The shortcoming is that the software has developed professional functions with reference to Chinese ancient books. However, due to the wide variety of domestic ancient books, its professionalism is still insufficient. At the same time, due to the large-scale data uploading of the platform, the overall platform effect remains to be seen.
