Zhang Zhijian, director of the Outdoor Department of the Mountaineering Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, said that the outdoor sports club has ushered in new opportunities and challenges in recent years. It must adapt to the new needs of the times in order to promote the sustainable development of the mountain outdoor sports industry. He analyzed the existing problems in the club: The general lack of sense of social responsibility and mission, the lack of grasping the eye of the opportunity; the clubs vicious competition with each other, the lack of cooperation; knowledge structure, talent structure, age structure is irrational, pick expertise, advantage development, there are thousands of troops over the single bridge phenomenon; Lack of understanding of customers, failure to integrate closely with market demand; mode of work, a single approach, the understanding of the service industry's individuation and creativity is not deep; rigid outdoor sports and tourism differentiation, limited thinking.
Zhang Zhijian put forward two suggestions for the development of outdoor industries: First, enrich the supply of outdoor sports products, achieve specialization, refinement, specialness, and newness; second, guide the upgrading of consumption concepts and grasp the balance between public interest and industry. He pointed out that sports consumption is different from tourism consumption, sports consumption is based on interests and hobbies, and it corresponds to some groups of people. Specialization, refinement, specialness, and newness are the main directions for clubs to meet the mass consumption.
Regarding how to grasp the dual nature of outdoor public welfare and industry, Zhang Zhijian pointed out: To grasp the dual nature of both, the basic sports service facilities and service system must be charitable, and the additional facilities and services above this are the industries.
