New polyvinylidene chloride PVDE coating available

Canadian company MacFone recently developed a new type of polyvinylidene dichloride (PVDE) coating, which breaks the limitations of the traditional coating thickness mil. Its thickness is arbitrary, depending on the needs of users. According to the company's claim, the key to producing the PVDC coating technology is to control the processing humidity. Because the resin itself is autocatalytic, the processing humidity range is very narrow, only between 160 and 170 °C; the Other key is the residence time. The flow rate of the coating system must be fast, ensuring that the residence time of the material from the hopper to the head is less than 2 minutes. For this purpose, the company invented a cooling system to control the temperature distribution in the head and extrusion zone. The cooling system includes temperature control software and oil heating and cooling organization. (From “Packaging World”, Issue 5, 1999)
