This week, iMakr partnered with Le Bon Marché, a luxury department store in Paris, to introduce a unique experience called “The Mini You†— custom 3D-printed incense candles featuring personalized portraits.
Using advanced 3D scanning and printing technology, iMakr allows customers to create a miniature version of themselves in the form of a candle. The event is designed to bring a special touch to the holiday season, offering a one-of-a-kind keepsake that blends art, technology, and tradition. This isn’t the first time iMakr has collaborated with department stores; they have previously created 3D-printed miniatures using materials like colored sandstone and even chocolate.
For this campaign, customers can visit a dedicated booth at Le Bon Marché in Paris starting November 1, 2014. There, they will be scanned using 3D technology to create a digital model. The file is then sent to iMakr’s London store, where it is printed using a specialized 3D printer. A silicone mold is made, and natural wax is used to cast the final product. Customers can choose from five different colors and scents for their candles.
Once completed, the candle can either be shipped directly to the customer or picked up at Le Bon Marché. British customers also have the option to customize their own wax figures through the online service. While visiting the store for a 3D scan is recommended for the best results, iMakr also accepts three photos from customers who can’t make the trip.
A 6-inch (approx. 15 cm) mini wax figure with a black marble base costs £199, while an 8-inch (approx. 20 cm) version is priced at £299. Whether you’re in Paris or not, this innovative service brings a new level of personalization to 3D printing, making it a perfect gift for the holidays.
