Liquid photosensitive resin plate - a new revolution in photosensitive resin plate making technology

Both liquid and solid sensitized plates began to develop around 1970. High-speed UV sensitizers, initiators, and photopolymerizable monomers were just on the market. Advanced chemical companies such as DuPont, GRACE, Uniroyal, and Hercules in the United States, Asahi in Japan, and BASF in Germany immediately adopted the new ones. Products to develop printing plates (currently the U.S. Graphic Arts Departments from GRACE, Uniroyal, and Hercules have merged to become MedDai Graphic Arts, MacDermid Graphic Arts). Depending on the chemical properties and market demand, two different types of plates were developed by 1975, the so-called liquid resin plates and solid plates.


In the past more than 20 years, the printing plate, a key part of the printing process, has gradually shifted from the traditional hand-carved rubber plate to the photosensitive resin flexo plate. This is an important breakthrough in plate-making technology. The vast majority, however, use solid photosensitive resin flexo plates, which have been used throughout the process of plate making as non-biodegradable, environmentally polluting, and easily carcinogenic solvent-tetrachloroethylene.


Many years ago, an expert once said: “We cannot follow the old path of governance in Western countries after pollution first.” Today, this expert's words are remembered again by people. China’s environmental pollution is alarming; the Huaihe River , the third largest river, has become a stinking ditch; billions of dollars of huge governance funds have been thrown away; in 2002, the top 10 causes of death in some cities in China were chronic diseases, which accounted for the cause of death. 90%... Human health is being threatened, our living environment is being destroyed, and our country’s progress and development are being hindered!

In recent years, environmental protection has gradually become the trend of the development of corrugated cartons. To improve and enhance the overall level of the packaging industry , we must take action to establish a green corrugated box printing industry system.

Now, there are 3 options to improve this situation:


1 To minimize the harmfulness by replacing the solvent of the cleaning solution and install the pollution treatment system to completely detoxify the printing plate before use;

The Cyrel Fast Thermo Technology plate is produced by heat treatment, without the use of chemicals, drying, and solvent distillation. The graphic of the plate is revealed by the use of heat to melt away the unexposed portions of the image layer. The melted material will be lightly pressed and immediately absorbed by a highly absorbent fiber nonwoven. The soon-to-be-printed plate can be used for the next printing process. This plate-making method does not produce odor or tetrachloroethylene gas that is harmful to the human body. However, due to the high price, the system has deterred a lot of carton customers who have little profit margin.


The liquid photosensitive resin plate making technology is a model of the third method. Currently in Europe, America, Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia, the liquid photosensitive resin printing plate has developed rapidly in corrugated box printing, accounting for more than 50% of the market. It is widely used with four advantages, namely, environmental protection, economy, good printing effect, and convenience. .


Today's ISO certification requires more and more environmental protection, so environmental protection has become an important bargaining chip for companies to participate in international competition.


For a long time, solid plate was used to dissolve the unexposed part with a solvent containing carcinogens such as chlorine compound solvent or ( PAS) high chlorine instead of solvent, and 1 gallon of tetrachloroethene/butanol solvent was only able to dissolve 200g of photopolymer. In China, the annual demand for corrugated cartons is as high as 21 billion square meters. Imagine printing so many corrugated cartons that the amount of tetrachloroethene/butanol solvent that China will consume in one year will reach an astonishing number. How destructive carcinogens can destroy our living environment.


Although the solid-state version is now strongly appealing for the use of environmental protection medicines, in addition to greatly increasing costs, there are also the following deficiencies:


1. Add a vacuum recovery aid.


2. The washing time will be extended by about one minute.


3. Drying time will be extended by one hour.
