What is the shrinking phenomenon that often occurs in the process of gravure printing? How to solve it?
Fault phenomenon
Protruding spots like fountains or craters appear on the ink layer or varnish surface of printed products, sometimes even appear on the entire pattern, resulting in rough printed surface and reduced gloss.
Cause Analysis
The ink surface dries too quickly. The heat force first acts strongly on the surface to form a dry film. The lower solvent is temporarily closed, and when it continues to be heated, the solvent in it must escape to the outside. When the energy reaches the level of breaking through the surface film, it is ejected to form shrinkage holes.
Solution
1. Add leveling agent to printing ink properly;
2. Use low surface tension solvent;
3. Wetting the substrate surface;
4. Control the temperature and humidity of the printing operation environment;
5. Choose the appropriate interpreter;
6. Reduce the surface tension between the printing ink and the printing carrier, so that the ink and the carrier have good wettability, so that it will not form a surface tension gradient with the material causing shrinkage;
7. Adjust the solvent evaporation speed, reduce the viscosity, improve the fluidity of the ink, and extend the leveling time.
