[China Packaging News] According to "Nihon Keizai Shimbun" report, Yokohama National University of Japan uses 3D printing technology to develop a technology that embeds two-dimensional codes on curved surfaces. In the three-dimensional products such as food can be carved into two-dimensional code shadow. By embedding two-dimensional codes on tablets, it can also be used to prevent elderly people from taking drugs by mistake.
Professor Chuan Chuanzhuo of the University of Engineering Research Institute has developed software for 3D printing of QR codes. It is more common to print two-dimensional codes on a plane. Printing two-dimensional codes on curved surfaces is limited to cylindrical products such as bottles and cans. By using convex and concave shadows, QR codes can be embedded on almost all surfaces.
The research team first planned to promote the application of this technology in medicine. It is envisaged that the two-dimensional code will be directly embedded in the tablets, and the patient can also search for drug information and prevent accidental service without a manual.
