Today, it has become one of the world's most popular non-alcoholic drinks, alongside coffee and soft drinks. When you brew a cup of tea, you are greeted with its beautiful jade-like color, aromatic fragrance, and a complex taste that ranges from bitter to sweet. The various shapes of tea leaves add to its visual appeal. However, due to the presence of numerous chemical compounds, tea is susceptible to degradation if not properly protected. To preserve the vibrant color, aroma, and flavor of tea, choosing the right packaging material is crucial. According to industry experts, blister packaging can effectively maintain the quality of tea during storage and usage, significantly extending its shelf life. Choosing the Right Blister Packaging Material When it comes to tea packaging, it must meet strict requirements such as moisture resistance, oxygen barrier, light protection, and fragrance retention. After comparing different materials, experts recommend vacuum-aluminized high-barrier PVC film as an ideal choice. This type of aluminized high-barrier film is a modern packaging solution known for its excellent sensory inertness, minimal odor permeability, and superior transparency. It also offers great flexibility, rigidity, toughness, tear strength, and resistance to cracking. Its low oxygen and water vapor transmission rates make it highly effective in preserving tea quality. Additionally, this material provides good printability and sealing performance, making it a versatile option for tea packaging. For composite materials, BOPP/AI/PE laminates are commonly used. The outer layer is biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), which undergoes stretching to improve its properties. BOPP offers excellent clarity, gloss, and water resistance, with oxygen and water vapor transmission rates that are 50% lower than regular polypropylene. Its density is also 20% less than that of LDPE. However, BOPP has poor tear resistance; even a small flaw can cause it to tear easily. The middle layer is aluminum foil, which provides strong light-blocking properties and high reflectivity to both light and heat. It acts as an excellent barrier against gases and moisture, offering superior protection. But aluminum foil lacks heat-sealing ability and is prone to pinholes, so it is rarely used alone. Combining it with other materials enhances its performance and makes full use of its barrier properties. The inner layer is polyethylene, which is non-toxic, odorless, and has unmatched heat-sealing properties compared to other plastics. The secondary packaging, typically made of standard paperboard cartons, serves to protect and organize individual blister packs. These cartons can be customized in shape and size based on aesthetic preferences and market demands, such as 200g, 100g, or 50g packages. They are practical, cost-effective, and widely used in the tea industry to ensure product safety and consumer convenience.
