Adjust the under-exposed picture technology

In the prepress design, some underexposed original pictures are often encountered. If they are put into the design draft intact, it will not only affect the effect of the entire design layout, but also destroy the creative taste of the designer. The reason why Photoshop is magical is that it can use some of the means provided by it to easily adjust the underexposed pictures to restore its original appearance as much as possible.

1. Scan and enter underexposed pictures into the computer

The photos taken with the digital camera enter the data into the computer and open them in Photoshop. Scanning pictures can't be sloppy when setting the scanning resolution, because it directly controls the re-imaging quality. Generally adhere to the following principles:

â‘  When the scanned image is used for color printing, the resolution of the color printing printer and the scaling factor of the image should be considered at this time. The resolution expressed by a color inkjet printer refers to the output accuracy of various colors. It is not a resolution in the true sense. It is the effective accuracy that is the resolution marked by the printer divided by the number of colors of the printer. For four-color printers marked with a resolution of 720dpi or 1400dpi, the effective accuracy is 180dpi and 350dpi.

If you print out according to the size of the original image, the scanning resolution should be equal to the effective accuracy of the printer. If the image needs to be scaled and printed out, scan resolution = scaling factor? Output size ÷ original size? × printer effective accuracy.

②When the scanned image is used for printing, the number of printed lines and the image scaling factor should be considered at this time. The number of printing lines is how many mesh adjustment units the printing machine can print per inch, the unit is l / in? Lpi ?; scaling factor = output size ÷ original size. When printing at the same size, the scanning resolution = number of printed lines × 2. For example, the number of newspaper printing lines is generally 85lpi? The general color print is 150lpi; the exquisite album is 300lpi, then the corresponding resolutions are: 175dpi, 300dpi, 600dpi. If the zoom image is printed, the scanning resolution = number of printed lines × 2 × zoom factor? Output size ÷ original size? In determining the problem of printing network lines, do n’t just pursue that the larger the number of network lines, the better. Although the larger the number of network lines, the richer the image level and details are. The paper, for example, printing an image with a net line of 175l on newsprint, not only does not get exquisite effect, but also causes the image to be blurred, which is counterproductive. The author's personal experience believes that when selecting newsprint or offset paper for offset printing, the printing network line is 80-100l; therefore, the resolution should be between 160dpi ~ 200dpi; when using color paper under 210g for color printing? The printing network line can reach 175l? It should be between 200dpi and 300dpi, and the high-grade copperplate paperboard with 210g or more color printing should be properly set higher. In short, setting the resolution too high will waste time, and if it is too low, it will affect the printing effect.

③When the scanned image is displayed on the screen, generally speaking, if the display is large, the scanning resolution is set to 72dpi; if it is zoomed, the resolution is set to: 72dpi × zoom factor.

Open the image file in Photoshop because the backlit when shooting, the main character is underexposed, so the face of the character looks too dark.

2. Execute the "Image" / "Copy" command to copy the currently operated image as a separate copy. In the dialog box that pops up, click the "OK" button to confirm and copy the image.

3. Execute the "image" / "mode" / "grayscale" command to convert the copied image mode from RGB to grayscale format.

4. Execute the "Filter" / "Blur" / "Gaussian Blur" command, and set the blur radius to an appropriate value between 3 and 6 according to the size of the image. In this example, the blur radius is set to 4.0, and the image is appropriately Blur. ?

5. Now switch the current operation file to the original image file, execute the "select" / "load selection" command, the "load selection" dialog box pops up. Set the file name of the copied image copy in "Document"; select "Grayscale" in "Channel"; then select "Reverse"; select "New Selection" in the "Operation" option. After completing the settings, press "OK" to confirm, and the selection is loaded into the image. At the same time, it can be clearly seen that the selection at this time is just the underexposed part of the image.

6. Convert the current operation file to the copied image file, press the "Ctrl + W" key combination to close the image file, at this time it will prompt whether to save, select "No".

7. Execute the "Edit" / "Fill" command, pop up "Fill" dialog box, from which to set related options. Select "50% Gray" in "Use"; select "Color Dodge" in "Mode"; set to 100% in "Opacity".

8. After setting, click "OK" to confirm and fill the selection of the image. Press the "Ctrl + D" key combination to cancel the selection.

Through the operation of the above eight steps, it is easy to adjust a photo with poor effect to basically satisfactory. Through adjustment, the brightness of the underexposed part of the original picture is increased, and the details in the shadow range are fully expressed, while at the same time without affecting the brightness of the other parts of the image.
