Hard work reported that climbing the Everest professional spirit gave us strength

At this time in May 2000, the Heilongjiang TV station's "Climbing Mount Everest" report was intensifying. Although four years have passed, for those of us who participated in this report, those days will never be forgotten, because through this interview, we have had a deeper understanding of the true meaning of journalists who want to “take news as their own responsibility”. Experience. In early 2000, Heilongjiang's extreme sports fan Yan Genghua announced that he would climb Mount Everest alone. Prior to this, our athletes once ascended the Everest on 5 occasions, but they collectively climbed, and athletes in more than a dozen countries have gone to the top alone successfully. Geng Genghua has become the first person in China to climb Mount Everest.

After the leaders of the Department of Public Information of our office learned of this news, they proposed the idea of following up and reporting on the activities of Yun Genghua’s climbing Everest. After hearing about this incident, I immediately signed up. The idea was very simple at that time and I felt that it was a rare opportunity to visit the Mount Everest.

But a few days later, some colleagues from the Ministry of Information collectively watched the TV shows about Everest, the roaring snow and snow in the picture, the hard-to-reach climbers, the remains of the weathered climbers, and these imaginary pictures made me fall into a long period of time. In the silence.

The difficulty is too great. The interview is too dangerous. Later, I learned that only the Japanese NHK TV station had broadcast on Everest in the world, but only broadcast live on the final summit. From 1959 to now, there have been 5 domestic journalists who have died at Mount Qomolangma. One of the reporters has not died of brain edema since his arrival at Everest Base Camp. It is very difficult for Geng Genghua to climb the Everest alone to climb Mount Everest, especially if the live broadcast is too difficult. My suspicions are even greater. Many of my colleagues who were actively involved initially shared the same ideas with me.

However, as journalists, it is our unshirkable responsibility to cover a rich and varied social life. The leaders of the Taiwan and our Ministry of Information pointed out that Geng Genghua’s significance in climbing Mount Everest alone is not only in mountaineering, but also reflects his spirit of challenging himself and crossing the limit, embodying human courage in exploring nature, and demonstrating the spiritual outlook of our Heilongjiang people in the new era. . Under the premise of detailed argumentation and careful preparation, we started preparations for the coverage of the report. It was this decisive decision that led to the implementation of the "Climbing Everest" report. It also gave me a preliminary impression that reporters should "take news as their duty."

When Li Weiqun, our front-line reporting group, set off from Harbin, his lover was already on the move. At that time, Taiwan did not agree to Li Weiqun’s visit to Tibet. Guan Zhong’s director said to him, “When you go to Tibet, you are reporting and you are not going to fight. You are not a soldier. You are not on the frontline?” Li Weiqun immediately said: “Guan Guan, you put me Let's be a soldier!” After listening to this sentence, Guan Zhong, who was 7 years old, knew he could not refuse Li Wei-qun. On April 21, Li Weiqun’s love took their son. Later we learned that the child was ill at birth and stayed in the incubator for several days. We can imagine what mood was Li Weiqun’s wife at that time. When their mother and son needed care and care most, Li Weiqun, who was her husband and father, risked his life and was thousands of miles away from his favorite television business. Everything works. Why Li Weiqun will make such a choice? It is Geng Genghua’s feat that has given us courage and is based on the professionalism of journalism that gives us strength.

On April 15th, we reported that the group reached the Mount Everest base camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters. In general, even a professional mountaineer will have to rest for three to five days when he first arrives at Everest Base Camp. He can adapt to this altitude to begin training and work. After arriving at the base camp with us, the Dutch mountaineers took a rest and settled down. However, in order to report the training situation of Yan Genghua here and the situation of the Base Camp to the audience in time, according to the layout of Taiwan and Taiwan, we will conduct the first live broadcast at the Base Camp on April 16. Therefore, we did not have time for a rest. We built a camp, carried out debugging and equipment preparation, and prepared a live broadcast program. We were busy until 3 a.m. on April 16.

In order to make more information, reporter Wang Xiaoli first rose at 6 o'clock in the morning. After he packed up the cameras, he took up the camp and from the moment he took the camera to his shoulder until the end of the 11-minute live broadcast, the 13-kilometre machine had never left his shoulder. It is the normal interview in the home, and the situation of the machine for five consecutive hours is not much! What's more, we are just reaching a height of 5,200 meters.

Through the live broadcast, the situation of the old man and the hardships of the base camp filled the silver screen. After the broadcast was over, seven people in our report group were together and all the fatigue was driven away by tears and joy. After getting up the next day, Wang Xiaoli began to run out of nose and blood and kept a low fever. At a height such as the base camp, a cold can also take away one's life. Nyima Ciren, a liaison officer, said that Xiao Li’s workload was too heavy yesterday and she was over-expressed and the situation was dangerous.

Xiao Li must immediately withdraw to a safe place, but he firmly insists on leaving. He said that if tomorrow is not good, then go on. Indeed, our staff is too tight. Everyone needs to be used by several people during the broadcast so that we do not even have a photo of a live broadcast. Xiaoli knew that if he went down, the work here would be more difficult and he wouldn't stick. A group of people mobilized one person. Finally, Xiaoli convinced us.

Wang Xiaoli finally had no nosebleed until 11pm that day. We took a long breath.

Bai Xiaoyun of the report group was a handsome man. His trip to Everest left him with a lifelong injury. Xiao Yun did not tell us that at the time of the camp, he began hematuria from May 20. When he returned to the Harbin medical examination, the doctor diagnosed him suffering from spondylitis and would not be able to heal completely. But he never said a word of regret because he knew his duties as a journalist.

The famous American journalist Edward Murrow, who reported that the German fascist Air Force bombed the London scene in bullets, said: "I am not born with adventure, because there is news there." Taking news as its own responsibility is exactly the nature of the reporter.

When people are in danger, they will immediately protect themselves. This is an instinct or subconscious, because life is more important than everything. After the report of climbing Everest in 2000, the question that most people asked me was that why did Geng Genghua climb the summit of Mount Everest in such bad weather and hesitated to pay the price of life? To be honest, if it is not reported that Geng Genghua has climbed Everest, I will ask the same question. In the more than two months I spent with Geng Genghua, I knew that the significance of climbing in Xin Genghua’s heart exceeded everything, including life, so he did not hesitate to choose to climb.

Reporters have to report on the rich and colorful social life. There are many harbors that are calm, and they will encounter stormy waves. At this time, if we always think about danger and think about personal interests and shrink back, journalism is absolutely not doing well. Therefore, in the coverage of the report, we must “take news as our own responsibility” and let this concept surpass all other ideas in our hearts. Having done this, we will be able to correct our position in the press work, handle all aspects of the relationship, and outstandingly complete the tasks assigned by the party and the people.
