How to use hot melt adhesive correctly

With the rapid spread of bookbinding machines, the main customs department puts forward higher requirements for the bookbinding quality of books. The correct use of hot melt adhesives is the basis for guaranteeing the quality of glued products. Including the choice of plastic, glue temperature control, the thickness of the adhesive layer and so on. I will briefly introduce a few major aspects mentioned above:
First, the choice of hot melt adhesive is a prerequisite to control the quality of the binding. Before book binding, first select the appropriate hot melt adhesive based on the thickness of the book and the quality of the paper. Such as the North Union brand hot melt adhesive back into BL-2B, BL-3B and other models, the printing plant can choose according to their actual binding requirements hot melt adhesive. Books and papers (such as student textbooks, books, magazines, etc.) can be used for binding BL-2B adhesive, because of its stable quality, moderate price, strong adhesive strength, and can effectively save production costs. More than 80g of offset paper or part of coated paper (usually no more than 1/2) page binding books, choose BL-3B type back adhesive is more appropriate. Compared with BL-2B adhesive, it has stronger adhesive strength, penetrating power, paper affinity and strong tensile strength, but its cost is higher than that of BL-2B. In the actual production process, the printing factory can choose its own desired product according to its own production conditions.
Second, the glue temperature control is an important factor in determining the quality of binding. During the use of the hot melt adhesive, the temperature of use of the glue should be controlled according to the normal production speed, workshop production environment temperature, temperature and product paper conditions. When used, it should be kept as far as possible and the temperature of the glue should be kept stable. At present, the glue temperature of the general printing factory in the production process (using North Union hot melt adhesive as an example) is mostly controlled between 150°C and 180°C. The fluidity and permeability of the glue are directly affected by the use temperature. . When the use temperature is high, the glue liquid has good fluidity and strong permeability, but the adhesive strength becomes low. At the same time, it may affect the sizing amount and the sizing thickness of the book. A prolonged high temperature will cause the carbonization and decomposition of the glue, which will cause aging and affect the quality of binding. When the glue temperature is too low, the viscosity of the glue will increase and the flowability will decrease. The weakening of the permeability directly affects the affinity of the glue and the paper, so that it is easy to cause the back of the glue book to be full, and it is easy to loosen or turn pages. The optimum operating temperature should be slightly adjusted according to the temperature range provided by the manufacturer, not too high or too low. In summer, the temperature may be slightly lower, but in winter it is the other way around. Some printing factories often use room temperature to superimpose the room temperature on the display during the summer, which is completely wrong. The normal ambient temperature only has an effect on the cooling rate after the product is sized. At present, the opening time of the glue is mostly 3-5 seconds, and the curing time is also completed within 1 second, which means that the product gluing process is basically completed within 13 seconds. After the molding, the book glue is further lowered in temperature to achieve the desired bonding effect.
Third, the amount of glue control is an important factor in the formation of the book back. The control of the amount of glue is related to the glue thickness of the book back glue and the book slot glue, which directly affects the bonding effect. In the production process, sometimes the first glue wheel to increase the amount of glue but there is no plastic flower wheel phenomenon, if you reduce the amount of glue and can not use the resin. Therefore, it is necessary to replenish the glue in a timely manner, reduce the amount of ground, and reduce the effect on the glue temperature, or directly add glue through a pre-sol pot.
Production binding requires careful observation during the actual production process, accumulation of experience, gradual improvement of operating capability, and improvement of work efficiency. Shandong Heze North Union Chemical Co., Ltd.
