Japan Develops High-compression Moulding Paper for Food Packaging

Japan's Oji Paper Co., Ltd. has recently developed a high-compression rate molding paper that is used to make food containers and will soon be officially produced.

It is reported that papers for ordinary food containers are difficult to stretch after being subjected to heat and stress, and are difficult to process into containers of various shapes. Even if they are processed into containers, the creases of the containers are liable to leak liquid.

The company uses its own suitable forest wood as raw material, and adds a unique drug formulation to the wood pulp. The molding paper produced has a high compression ratio, is easy to process and is not easily deformed, and can also be used as a paper product for combustion treatment. It will not cause environmental pollution, thus greatly saving processing costs. It is an ideal substitute for plastic container packaging. Oji Paper Co., Ltd. plans to produce 2,000 tons of this high-compression molded paper annually after two years.
