Take away the bad habit of tearing and biting when unpacking

[Chinese Packaging Network News] When receiving a delivery, it's better to use scissors rather than tear it open with your hands. With the fast pace of modern life, more and more people are shopping online for convenience and time-saving. However, many people tend to open courier packages by simply tearing them with their hands, which can lead to allergic reactions such as redness, itching, or irritation on the skin. The raw materials used in domestic courier packaging are often recycled from waste, including chemical substances and plastics, which may contain harmful additives like plasticizers and flame retardants. These substances can cause skin allergies and, if absorbed into the bloodstream, may even affect the liver, kidneys, and bones. In addition, many packages are sealed with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tape, and forcefully tearing it open by hand can irritate the skin and respiratory system. Therefore, it is recommended to use scissors to open the package, and after cutting, make sure to clean the scissors before using them for other food packaging to avoid cross-contamination. It’s common for people to drink a bag of milk by biting directly into the pouch. However, many milk bags are stored in open environments where dust and microorganisms can easily accumulate. Additionally, these bags often have printed designs and bright colors, and the inks used may contain heavy metals like lead and harmful solvents. If you bite into the bag, some of these harmful substances could enter your body, leading to long-term accumulation and potential health risks such as heavy metal poisoning, which can damage the blood and digestive system. To stay safe, it’s best to cut the bag open with scissors and then use a straw or pour the milk into a cup before drinking. Besides milk and courier packaging, there are many other plastic products that people come into contact with daily, such as snack packaging, fruit and vegetable bags, and shopping bags. These plastic items often touch food directly. When using them, avoid biting into small food bags, just like with milk packaging, to prevent ingesting dust, bacteria, or ink. Also, try to avoid using colored or ultra-thin plastic bags, especially when they contain oily foods like meat. Inferior plastic bags may release harmful substances—such as heavy metals or toxic pigments—into the grease, which can build up over time and harm your health. Always choose high-quality, food-safe packaging whenever possible.
