What factors affect the salt spray test results during sample preparation

The salt spray test chamber has certain requirements for the anti-corrosion coating before the test. The substrate treatment of the test sample, the production of the paint film and the quality of the maintenance directly affect the salt spray test results. The influencing factors are analyzed as follows:

Factor 1: The substrate is not cleaned

Forms of expression and consequences: affect the adhesion of the paint film to the substrate, accelerate the blistering, rusting and even falling off of the paint film.

Preventive measures: The surface treatment of cold-rolled steel sheets is strictly carried out in accordance with GB/T9271-1988.

Factor 2: film thickness

Forms and consequences: the paint film is thin, the salt spray resistance is weakened; the paint film is thicker and the salt spray resistance is weaker.

Preventive measures: Use thickness measurement and spray experience to control the thickness error within ±5μm.

Factor 3: Maintaining the environment

Forms of expression and consequences: dust pollution, easy to form corrosion points; changes in ambient temperature and humidity, affect the state of the paint film.

Preventive measures: Put the sample in a constant temperature and humidity test chamber for curing.

Factor three: other factors

Forms of expression and consequences: Stains, oil stains and bumps left by finger contact with the paint film may form the earliest corrosion points in the salt spray test.

Preventive measures: Ensure that the surface of the paint film is clean and complete before testing.
