Digital presses consist of imaging lasers (or LEDs), new plates, drums, and inks. The models offered by different suppliers range from high-speed laser printers to traditional offset printers, with a wide range of functions and printing methods. Digital presses not only directly print files, but also automate file management, eliminating time- and money-consuming film output, plate preparation, and ink preparation and calibration. Although there are still many limitations, these printing methods combine professional printing with desktop systems to achieve short-run four-color printing with short turnaround times, flexibility, and economy.
