According to statistics, China's printing industry emits more than 600,000 tons of volatile organic compounds each year. The content of volatile organic compounds and heavy metals in the ink determines its environmental protection level. The pure water-based ink developed by Beijing Printing Institute has replaced volatile organic compounds in the ink with water. This environmentally-friendly pure water-based ink is expected to be put into production in Fangshan this year.
The so-called pure water type ink is to completely replace the organic solvent in the traditional ink with water. Traditional inks volatile toxic and harmful components such as benzene and acetone, while pure water type inks only evaporate water during production and use, to minimize the harm to the environment and human health. However, since the adhesion of ordinary water is far inferior to that of chemical solvents, the volatilization rate is much slower than that of chemicals. If these two problems cannot be solved, a true pure water type ink cannot be produced.
The R & D team of Beijing Printing Institute took the lead in overcoming the technical problems of pure water-based ink adhesion and drying speed, becoming the first domestic unit that can produce 100% pure water-based ink.
At present, the pure water type ink production project has settled in Fangshan and will be put into production within the year. It is estimated that the annual output of pure water type ink will be 3000 tons, and the output value will exceed 100 million yuan. At the same time, replacing some of the traditional inks with pure water type inks will also reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds in the air and achieve green printing.
