MIT develops the world's first optical transparent glass 3D printing technology

Plastic materials have been used in 3D printing technology , and now researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a technology that uses glass for 3D printing .

The new technology is called "3DGP", which is the same as traditional plastic 3D printing, but the difference is that glass is used instead of plastic as a printing material.

The MIT Media Lab, in collaboration with the School of Mechanical Engineering, the Glass Laboratory, and the Weiss Institute, developed the new 3D printing technology.

Specifically, this technique uses a melt composed of glass and then adds layers by modulating and changing the print thickness.

The 3D printer consists of two heaters stacked together. The heater can be heated up to 1900 degrees Celsius to act as a "kiln tube". The bottom heater is used to heat and cool the printed material. And the purpose of solidifying glass material.

The research team said they have collaborated to develop the world's first optically clear glass printing technology, which has great potential.
